About the editor
Townbrief Lexington is edited by Dave Watkins, who founded Townbrief.
How a story is made
Every story starts with the public record. Townbrief collects the recordings of public meetings and the agendas, packets and minutes that town boards publish. Software transcribes each meeting, and an AI system drafts the story from the transcript and those documents.
How a story is checked
Before a meeting story is published, an automated check compares it with the meeting record and with the board's official member list. A story that fails the check is held for review. A story that passes carries a note saying it was checked against the record.
What the editor does
Dave Watkins sets the rules every story follows: which public records Townbrief reads, what each story covers, and how each story is checked. The editor reviews the results of the checks and the mistakes readers report, and is responsible for what Townbrief Lexington publishes.
Corrections
If you see a mistake, email support@townbrief.com with the story and the correction. Confirmed errors are corrected on the story with a note saying what changed. See our corrections policy and how Townbrief uses AI.
