Lexington Select Board approves pickleball agreement, previews high school tax calculator

LEXINGTON — September 8, 2025 — Lexington Select Board approves pickleball club agreement and debuts high school tax-impact calculator. At its September 8 joint session with the Appropriation Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee, the board received an updated financing presentation from Assistant Town Manager for Finance Carolyn Kosnoff projecting the town will bond approximately $547 million net of state and program grants, with debt service running from fiscal 2027 through fiscal 2059, peaking near $34 million annually. A new interactive online calculator — set to publish within days — allows residents to enter their assessed home value and see a year-by-year estimate of their tax impact; for the median $1.416 million Lexington home, the net first-year hit is approximately $43.66, rising to roughly $1,800 at its fiscal 2036 peak. Town meeting member John McKenna urged the board to take a formal vote on the Capital Stabilization Fund deployment strategy, saying "it is so significant that you need to take a formal vote now." The board voted unanimously to authorize Town Manager Steve Bartha to execute a donation and license agreement with the Lexington Pickleball Club to expand courts at Adams Courts from four to six within the existing footprint.
