Lexington Select Board sets December 8 date for high school debt exclusion vote

LEXINGTON — July 7, 2025 — Lexington Select Board sets December 8 as the date for the high school debt exclusion referendum. The board voted 5-0 at its July 7 meeting to hold the ballot question on December 8, 2025, following a special town meeting already scheduled for November 3 and 4. The board also voted 5-0 to approve roughly $248,000 in fiscal year 2025 year-end budget adjustments, including $220,000 from the salary adjustment account to cover police overtime and $63,000 for fire department overtime — continuing a pattern Chair Jill Hay described as "over, over, over every year." Town Manager Steve Bartha said a consultant to study police and fire overtime drivers is nearly under contract, funded by a $120,000 town meeting appropriation. The board unanimously established a 20-mile-per-hour school safety zone on Worthen Road near Lexington High School, active 30 minutes before and after the school day, and approved a letter of support for the Lexington Woods 40B affordable housing project's low-income housing tax credit application to the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities.
