Abbott's Frozen Custard Closes After Six Years in Lexington

LEXINGTON — Abbott's Frozen Custard has shut its doors after six years in business, according to a Lexington Patch report, marking the town's most concrete news of the day. Town Hall also flagged a new textile recycling partnership and previewed a public meeting on a modernized waste collection system set to launch in 2027.

TOWN HALL

The town is highlighting a partnership with Bay State Textiles that provides collection bins reserved exclusively for clothing, shoes and household linens, giving residents another option for responsibly disposing of unwanted textiles rather than sending them to the trash.

In an update to the waste collection changes residents have heard about in recent days, the town said it is preparing to roll out a modernized collection program in the summer of 2027 aimed at controlling rising costs and cutting waste, and is inviting residents to an upcoming meeting to learn about the options and weigh in before decisions are finalized.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Lexington Center Summer Concert Series continues Friday, Aug. 14, with a performance by Kadak Chai, the latest installment in the town's free outdoor concert lineup.
