Federal Trade Panel Names Lexington's Unimacts Global in Transformer Probe

The U.S. International Trade Commission has instituted a Section 337 investigation into certain transformers and components that names Lexington based Unimacts Global LLC among the parties, according to a notice posted by the federal agency. Closer to home, Town Hall opened its annual search for residents willing to serve on town boards and committees, with applications due by Monday, Aug. 31.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board's office is recruiting residents to fill current and upcoming openings on Lexington boards and committees, and is asking anyone interested to submit an application by Aug. 31 to be considered.

The town is also continuing to gather resident input on a modernized waste collection program slated to roll out in the summer of 2027, an effort officials say is meant to help control rising costs, a story that builds on the special waste fees and LexSortSmart tool the town's News Flash covered earlier this month. Residents can attend an upcoming public meeting to learn about the options under consideration and weigh in on which one they prefer.

Separately, the town flagged its ongoing partnership with Bay State Textiles, which provides bins around Lexington for residents to responsibly dispose of clothing, shoes and household linens rather than sending them to the trash.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Lexington's 2026 Summer Concert Series continues Friday, Aug. 21, with a performance by Mojo Ride, the latest stop in the town's ongoing outdoor concert lineup.

COMING UP

The Council on Aging's "Coping With Change" program is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18. LexFarm's Walking Wednesdays continues Wednesday, Aug. 19, and the Planning Board holds a remote public hearing that same day on a proposal at 5-7 Spring St.
