Lex Local Showcases No Kings Protest, New High School Designs, and Community Events

LEXINGTON — June 20, 2025 — Lex Local's June 20 episode captures more than a dozen Lexington community events, from a 2,000-person No Kings protest at the Minuteman statue on June 14 to early interior and exterior design previews for the new Lexington High School. Host Rick Dorrington guided viewers through school building committee footage showing proposed terrazzo and polished-concrete floors, wood-look metal ceilings, and a six-arm building configuration with an amphitheater and a decomposed-granite knoll path for student gathering. Select Board member Doug Lucente marked the town's 250th anniversary by donating a commemorative arch — briefly felled during opening ceremonies — now repaired and on view outside Cary Hall. Jay Abdella, the town's Senior Economic Development Coordinator, described the East Lexington Mural and Area Activation Project, with installations at four Massachusetts Avenue properties expected in June or July 2025, growing out of a COVID-era finding that East Lexington businesses "suffered disproportionately."
