Lexington Affordable Housing Trust Opens Pilot Rental Assistance Program

LEXINGTON — The Lexington Affordable Housing Trust has opened applications for a new Pilot Rental Assistance Program, called Lex PRAP, giving low- and moderate-income renters in town a new source of financial support.

The Lexington Affordable Housing Trust is inviting low- and moderate-income renters living in Lexington to apply for its new Pilot Rental Assistance Program, known as Lex PRAP. The program is designed to help renters facing housing cost pressures in one of the region's more expensive rental markets.

Separately, the Town of Lexington has partnered with Davey Resource Group, a subsidiary of the Davey Tree Expert Company, to develop an Urban Forest Master Plan. The plan is meant to set a long-term vision for the town's urban forest program and the future of its tree canopy.

COMING UP

Nine Lexington town boards, committees and hearings meet this week. On Tuesday, July 21, the Economic Development Advisory Committee, Commission on Disability, Housing Partnership Board and Hanscom Field Advisory Commission all hold remote sessions. The School Committee meets remotely Wednesday, July 22, followed Thursday, July 23, by the Retirement Board, the School Committee's Policy Subcommittee, the Affordable Housing Trust Board of Trustees, and a Board of Appeals hearing on a zoning matter at 89 Meriam Street.

The Council on Aging has senior programming through the end of the month, including Senior Bingo, a "Coping With Change" discussion and Voice Colors Yoga on Tuesday, July 21; an arthritis exercise class on Wednesday, July 29; a Tribute to Elvis performance featuring Michael Slater on Thursday, July 30; and a Mediterranean-themed cooking class held over Zoom on Friday, July 31.
