Lexington Issues Extreme Heat Advisory Through Aug. 9
LEXINGTON — Lexington officials issued an extreme heat advisory Monday, urging residents to check on vulnerable neighbors and take advantage of cooling resources as a multi-day heat wave settles over Massachusetts through Aug. 9. In a separate warning, the town flagged an ongoing scam targeting people with permit applications before several town boards.
TOWN HALL The town's alert, posted Monday, calls the coming week a heat wave and asks residents to take extra care with older neighbors, young children and others at risk, while pointing people toward cooling resources available around Lexington. The advisory runs through Aug. 9.
Separately, the town renewed a security warning about fraudulent emails impersonating Lexington officials. The scam emails are going out to applicants with permits currently before several boards and committees, including the Planning Board, the Historic District Commission and the Conservation Commission, the town said.
Residents interested in local government have until Monday, Aug. 31, to apply for open seats on Lexington boards and committees, according to the town's News Flash.
COMMUNITY & ARTS The town's Summer Concert Series continues Aug. 14 with a performance by Kadak Chai, the next show on the outdoor concert calendar following the Aug. 7 date already on the books.
