Lexington Issues Heat Advisory Through July 5, Launches Rental Assistance Pilot Program
A heat advisory stretching from Tuesday through July 5 is prompting Lexington officials to urge residents to check on vulnerable neighbors, while the town simultaneously launched a new rental assistance pilot program and announced bus route changes set to take effect next week.

The most pressing item from town hall today is a multi-day extreme heat advisory. The town is warning residents that a heat wave is expected to grip Massachusetts from June 30 through July 5 and is asking everyone to take extra precautions with vulnerable populations — elderly residents, young children, and anyone without reliable access to air conditioning. Separately, the Lexington Affordable Housing Trust announced its new Pilot Rental Assistance Program, known as Lex PRAP. Riders of the Lexpress municipal bus system should also plan ahead: route changes take effect Sunday, July 6. Route C will see the most significant adjustments, Route B will add new service, and Route A will have minor timing tweaks. Residents should also note that non-emergency town offices and buildings will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
