Lexington Issues Heat Advisory, Wins $10,000 Event-Safety Grant

LEXINGTON — Lexington issued a heat advisory Tuesday urging residents to check on elderly neighbors and other vulnerable residents as high temperatures moved through the region, while the town also announced a $10,000 grant to buy metal barriers for public events.

The town's News Flash service posted a heat advisory this week, asking residents to take extra care with vulnerable populations, check on those at risk, and use available town resources to stay cool during the hot stretch.

Separately, the Town of Lexington was awarded a $10,000 risk-management grant from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association, the town's property and casualty insurer, to purchase metal barriers for use at public events and celebrations. The Select Board is also seeking qualified candidates to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Trustees of Public Trusts.

In other Lexington-connected news, StrataDx, a diagnostic pathology laboratory headquartered in town, disclosed a data breach exposing patients' financial account and Social Security numbers, according to breach-tracking site Claim Depot.
