Lexington lands $10,000 MIIA grant for event barricades

The Town of Lexington has been awarded a $10,000 risk management grant from the Massachusetts Interlocal Insurance Association to purchase metal barricades for use at public events and celebrations, town officials announced this week.

The MIIA grant, announced in a press release dated July 16, will fund the purchase of metal barriers intended to strengthen public safety at town events and celebrations. MIIA serves as the town's property and casualty insurance provider, and the grant falls under its risk management program.

Separately, the Select Board is seeking candidates to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Trustees of Public Trusts, according to the town's News Flash postings. Residents interested in serving are encouraged to review the opportunity on the town website.

COMING UP

The School Building Committee holds a remote meeting Monday, July 20, at 5:20 p.m., with an agenda revised July 14. The Select Board meets in hybrid format that same evening, July 20.

The Economic Development Advisory Committee, Commission on Disability, Housing Partnership Board, and Hanscom Field Advisory Commission all hold remote meetings Tuesday, July 21. The School Committee meets remotely Wednesday, July 22, followed by the Retirement Board on Thursday, July 23.

Also Tuesday, July 21, the Council on Aging is hosting Senior Bingo, a "Coping With Change" program, and a Voice Colors Yoga session. A Board of Appeals remote public hearing on a case at 89 Meriam St. is scheduled for Thursday, July 23.
