Board of Health · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Lexington's Board of Health ordered Kin Dee Thai & Pho to bring in a food safety consultant after years of repeat violations. The board voted 3-0 Tuesday to require the Bedford Street restaurant to hire an independent consultant, train staff under 105 CMR 590.000, and submit to monthly inspections for at least six months, after Health Director Alicia McCartan said cold-holding violations appeared in nine of the restaurant's last 12 inspections. Board member Shula Escott pressed owners Ronald and Tisa Zarkowski, asking why "if we've had repeat inspections, no corrections have been made." The order allows an emergency closure for any new critical violation found before January 31, 2027.
In other business, the board tabled a 790 Waltham Street well variance to October 20 and continued weighing the 2022 FDA Food Code, which would add sesame as a ninth major allergen requiring menu disclosure.
