Lexington's Pumpkin Smash returns Nov. 6
The Town of Lexington is holding its Pumpkin Smash event Nov. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park, where residents can smash and compost pumpkins with Black Earth Compost.
The Town of Lexington announced that its annual Pumpkin Smash event will take place Friday, Nov. 6, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Park, 100 Lincoln St.
Residents are invited to bring pumpkins of any size to be composted by Black Earth Compost. This year's event will include a target for throwing pumpkins. Organizers ask that all candles, paint and other decorations be removed from pumpkins before they are brought to the event.
Composting the pumpkins helps reduce waste sent to the landfill by turning them into a soil amendment, according to the town.
The event is sponsored by the Town of Lexington, the Lexington Public Schools Green Teams and the Lexington Zero Waste Collaborative.
