LEXINGTON — The Lexington School Committee approved updated fiscal year 2028 budget guidelines and calendar in a 5-0 vote Tuesday, adding public budget-literacy sessions planned for December. Members also voted 5-0 to ratify new supervision-and-evaluation agreements with the teachers' and administrators' unions and Unit C, after union ratification votes came in the "very high 90s" percent range. During public comment, Lex Kids Be Kids organizer Wendy Hofer asked the committee to make its planned AI and technology advisory council a standing body with voting authority, rather than a one-year effort ending in June 2027, citing an 80-signature petition filed in January.

Superintendent Julie L. Hackett told members environmental science is not being eliminated at Lexington High School despite community concern, and said a state wetlands appeal will add $1 million to $2 million, not the previously floated $17 million, to the high school building project, which remains on schedule for 2029-2030.
