Lexington School Committee Unanimously Ratifies Paraprofessional Contract, Hires Finance Director

LEXINGTON — June 17, 2025 — Lexington School Committee ratifies paraprofessional contract and appoints new finance director in quick special session. The committee voted 5-0 on both items at its June 17 meeting, ratifying a memorandum of agreement with Lexington Education Association Unit C covering September 1, 2024 through August 31, 2026, and approving the appointment of Justin McCutcheon as director of finance for Lexington Public Schools. Superintendent Jane Hackett reported that 93.5 percent of the unit's 216 respondents voted yes on the contract, describing the result as "a pretty overwhelming endorsement." The contract closes out more than a year of negotiations led largely by School Committee member Sarah Cuthbertson, with union president Robin Strzyk and vice president Amanda Laskowski representing the unit. McCutcheon, currently deputy finance director in Salem with more than eight years of municipal finance experience, will start July 15 and complete a cost-neutral restructuring of the district's central finance office that began with the May 13 appointment of a new assistant superintendent for finance and operations.
