Lexington Conservation Commission Approves Lexington High School Environmental Order of Conditions

LEXINGTON — June 23, 2026 — Lexington Conservation Commission approves long-awaited environmental order for high school project. The commission voted 4-0 Tuesday evening to approve an Order of Conditions for the Lexington High School redevelopment at 251 Waltham Street (DEP #201-1387), authorizing construction subject to conditions addressing multiple buffer zone incursions, two regulatory waivers, wetland replication in phases, and piezometer groundwater monitoring in five replication areas. Commissioner Kevin Butel joined the remote Zoom meeting late and proved essential — without him, the commission lacked eligible voters, as members Jason Notko and Tom Olivier were disqualified for missing March hearings. Conservation Administrator Karen Mullins was given drafting authority to finalize the order within a 21-day window from the June 9 hearing close, with member Tom Whelan to supply supplemental language on the two waivers. In other action, the commission voted unanimously to extend the goat land management permit at Casa Farm from one year to two years for permit holders Halé Sofia Schatz and Laurene Beaudette, and approved an Eagle Scout kiosk project for West Farm's lower entrance, presented by Troop 119 Life Scout Akhil Venkatesh.
