Lexington recreation director earns national honor as Little League's summer travel season rolls into August.

LEXINGTON -- Lexington's Recreation & Community Programs department is marking a professional milestone for its top administrator this week, even as youth sports on the ground keep humming through the summer.

Melissa Battite, Lexington's Director of Recreation & Community Programs, has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration, one of the field's highest professional honors, the town's recreation department announced. The department also noted that summer program registration remains open to residents.

YOUTH LEAGUES

Lexington Little League's summer travel schedule continues into August, with the club's calendar listing a 12U matchup pitting Lexington against the Arlington Orioles, a 10U game between Winchester Black and Lexington White at the Lincoln Fields, and a 10U contest sending Lexington Blue to face Burlington Red, according to the league's posted events.
